In 2002, the digital network Respect was setup to host the Comenius project 'Argonauts of Europe', in which eight teacher training colleges worked together. In 2004, the Comenius project 'REBELS' - a cooperation between four European teacher training colleges and four schools- joined the network. In addition, the Respect Network opened up the website 'Worlds Apart?' for the e-twinning of schools at the REBELS conference in Konya in June 2007. At the end of 2007, the network decided to transform itself into a foundation, providing extra services to teacher training colleges and schools in order to make education more challenging.The rationale behind the foundation is the debate about European and World Citizenship due to globalisation and migration. The foundation focuses on educational practice in schools and teacher training, reflecting real outcomes of this ongoing debate.
